Please Donate Towards Story Quilt Magazine

When Ed Janzen and I started Story Quilt back in 2014, it was initially meant as a subscription-based service. After some thinking and experimenting, it became clear that this would probably not work. So, it became an unpaid side project. For Ed it didn’t matter, as this was his retirement project. And for us, as website developers, it didn’t matter that much either, as at least we were getting paid for updating the Canadian Stories website. So then we got two projects, effectively cutting our fees in half – but that was OK.

But since June of 2023, when Ed passed away, the paid work for Canadian Stories has dried up.

So now I would like to reach out to you with a request.

We like the community that we’ve built, but it does take a considerable amount of unpaid time for us to keep Story Quilt going. And there are some ongoing expenses as well, e.g. the domain name renewal.

So I’m asking you if you would be willing to send us a donation as a token of your appreciation for the Story Quilt website. Your donation would give us some income for the work we put into Story Quilt every month, and compensate us for the expenses that we make on Story Quilt’s behalf.

Just to be clear: this “donation” is a contribution to U-C WEBS, my company (www.u-cwebs.com), to keep working on the Story Quilt website. It is not a donation towards a charitable organization, and as such not eligible for a tax receipt.
