I am the second-youngest of 15 children raised in poverty. I joined the Cdn Army at age 18 and served as a communications technician for 31 years. I was stationed in Germany from 1970 to 1976 and did a six-month posting in Alert, near the North Pole. I had the distinction of being posted to CFS Carp, home of the ‘Diefenbunker’ for 12 consecutive years. My wife is German and I have an adult son and daughter and 6 grandchildren. Retired and living near Lanark, Ontario, I fill my time with carpentry, metal work, auto mechanics and appliance repair, (all my own items), and I make maple syrup and have honey bees. I have written one book and several short stories and poems and I have composed several songs.
