Calvin and Molly Go On A Picnic

Calvin and Molly were best friends. Molly was an all-black pig and Calvin was brown and white with spots, that sometimes looked like a moose and sometimes like a sheep. Calvin and Molly looooved to eat. Every morning and every evening two women brought them each a big bowl of green leaves, bright orange carrot sticks, yellow banana peels, crunchy cereal and all sorts of yummy things to eat. It was always very delicious, and Molly and Calvin would run as fast as they could to the food bowls to see who could get there first.

“I win” said Calvin, his nose already covered in food.

One day Calvin said to Molly “Let’s go and find our own food today. We could go on a lovely picnic. Maybe we’ll find some wild blackberries to eat”.

”Oo yes I do love blackberries,” said Molly.

The paddock where Molly and Calvin lived during the day was very big but had a tall fence around it. Getting through the fence was not going to be easy.

“Maybe I could stand on your back and jump over,” said Calvin.

“Then how would I get out,” said Molly. “That’s not fair”.

“Hmm well maybe we could dig underneath the fence,” said Calvin.

“That would take much too long and I’m very tired,” said Molly.

“I know,” said Calvin swishing his tail excitedly “Let’s sneak out when the women come to fill our water bucket”.

“Now That is a very good idea” said Molly.

So Molly and Calvin hid behind a large bush. They peeked through the leaves and then they waited. Finally, the women opened the gate and went to fill the water bucket. Jumping quickly out from behind the bush, Molly and Calvin raced out through the gate before the women could close it and ran into the open field.

“We made it,” said Calvin.
