An Autumn drive through leaf-world:
bloodstain reds, pumpkin-rind yellows and holdout greens…
what was just there now blazes.
Whoever’s bored inside is out the door
and opts for the front or back seat.
Same with the one having stomach pains,
or just off the phone after an argument with a boyfriend.
An artist has been at work through the colder days,
his composition blazing across familiar shapes,
and people feel better about themselves,
traveling the roads of newly-favorite scenes,
breathtaking hues and looking out, not in.
Miles are where the future lies.
Eyes open wide, swallow images.
Colors come down and saturate.
