Harry shrugged. “I guess that’s your decision, Benny.”
“No need to disturb the grave,” Jones said. “When we’re finished, just put up a fence and a sign, same as for the cemetery.”
“What about the cats?” Benny asked.
“Miss Pinkerton said she loved cats and always had several around. When they died, she gave them proper burials,” Harry said.
“These may have been the last two she had. When they died, someone probably buried them close to her,” Bertie added.
“Sounds plausible,” Jones agreed. “We’ll finish here and clean up the site. We’ll clean up the stone and put a foundation under it so it doesn’t get buried under dust and debris again. Then you can get the site ready for visitors.”
Harry looked at Benny as Jones walked away. “What about your strawberry beds?”
“There’s plenty of land,” Benny said. “We’ll find another spot for them.”
“I’m sure you will,” Harry replied as he and Bertie walked back to the truck.
“The question is – what else will he find in the process?” Bertie said.
